Job Details

The Dispatcher – Dispatch will oversee OTR Trucking operations for BVS Transportation, LLC and serve as the direct report for the CDL Truck Drivers out of Multiple facilities. The Dispatcher will ensure that product pickup, delivery and transfers are communicated and scheduled most efficiently for the company.

  • Coordinate with purchasing, customer service and warehouse managers the logistics needs and schedule of the business while monitoring and optimizing routes
  • Dispatch loads to the drivers (issue load information, loading instructions, directions, routing, and fuel information)
  • Notify appropriate contacts of issues/changes that might impact customer expectations or affect load assignments
  • Assist in promoting safety throughout all areas of operations, including the dispatching of loads in accordance with the driver’s hours of availability
  • Update drivers on road conditions and restrictions as communicated by locations and Transportation Safety and Compliance Manager
  • Schedule backhauls to minimize the cost of empty loads as well as other outsourced loads
  • Maintain and enhance process for communicating loads through BVS Load board
  • Ensure all CDL Drivers are properly trained on the operation of the vehicles, ELDs, road test and any other training as may be required
  • Conduct regular maintenance and inspections for all vehicles and ensure accurate records are being kept
  • Actively monitor shipments to ensure safe and timely delivery while complying with all State and Federal regulations and company policies.
  • Assist in the management with brokering of loads, when possible, to outside carriers
  • Assist in daily warehouse operations as necessary to support the needs of the business and the Warehouse Manager
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Knowledge of applicable transportation regulations and laws.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to think strategically, plan, and prioritize but also change direction quickly and frequently as the prioritized needs of the business change
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including active listening.
  • Ability to remain professional and courteous with customers at all times.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and effectively work independently.
  • Must also have the ability to work collaboratively with others as part of the team
  • Service-oriented and able to resolve customer concerns.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive rapport with internal customers.
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1+ years transportation regulations and law experience required; 2+ years preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
