Job Details

BVS has an immediate opening for a full-time Materials Manager. This position will oversee all aspect of the purchasing, inventory control and materials for the company. This position will lead the strategic planning and daily operations to driving sales and profit for the company by optimizing inventory levels of the supply chain planning and inventory control function, teams and the financial impact of the support function.

  • Responsible for development and execute short and long-term plans that maximize inventory turns and minimize excess inventory while meeting customer requirements.
  • Manage the inflow and outflow of product through the organization.
  • Predict future inventory needs, produce plans for buying based on forecasts and sales data.
  • Track and monitor inventory levels and production schedules, creating a stocking strategy.
  • Propose and prepare purchase orders to replenish stock avoiding insufficiencies or excessive surplus; expedite when needed/approved.
  • Negotiates and completes contracts with vendors for optimal cost and delivery times.
  • Reviews purchase orders and contracts for compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Collaborates with all location’s sales, customer service, and warehouse departments to maximize efficiency in the purchasing and inventory control for BVS.
  • Communicates with suppliers to resolve problems that may arise regarding delivery, quality, price, or conditions of sale.
  • Create and maintain efficient and accurate inventory control best practices, consistent with company policy, SOPs, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Evaluate staffing and training requirements.
  • Safeguard inventory assets to facilitate shortage detection. Initiate and maintain an efficient cycle count strategy.
  • Make system adjustments as required and analyze results of counts to initiate permanent corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of all audits, counts, and adjustments. Confirm completion of cycle count activity as outlined in SOP.
  • Ensure that customer returned products are saleable and are processed in accordance with SOP.
  • Monitors and directs the work of others, provides vision and goals, performance feedback, coaching, and counseling.
  • Support and follow all reporting and documentation processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), documenting standard work and ensuring highest possible levels of productivity.
  • Manage hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing performance of all service, team members including performance reviews and corrective actions
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations including OSHA, DOT, USDA, FDA, EPA.
  • Responsible for creating an atmosphere that promotes employee involvement while communicating regularly with all employees keeping them abreast of our Company values and goals.

  • Requirements

    Required Skills/Abilities:
    • Demonstrated understanding of purchasing, warehouse and inventory management, product flow and productivity standards.
    • Proven negotiation skills.
    • Ability to exercise tact, courtesy, and ethics when dealing with vendors, co-workers, and customers.
    • Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others.
    • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner, and listen attentively to others, understands material, and provide instructions to all team members.
    • Adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment with minimum supervision.
    • Strong leadership skills, ability to lead by example.
    • Demonstrate ability to work well under pressure with a proactive approach to unusual occurrences.
    • Ability to analyze and solve problems involving several options with limited information.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, as well as WMS software.
    • Employee may be required to travel for business purposes.
    Education and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field with coursework in purchasing and/or inventory control management, required.
    • At least five years of buying or purchasing experience required with supervisory experience preferred.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to walk and stand for extensive periods of time.
    • Prolonged periods of sitting driving or at a desk and working on a computer.
    • The ability to working with and around industrial hazards.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
