Customers of Best Veterinary Solutions (BVS) now have access to the only available testing and diagnostic service that directly measures mycotoxin exposure in commercial poultry. 

BVS has partnered with Innovad® to offer MycoMarker®, a patented mycotoxin-testing protocol.  Using the latest technology, blood spot samples are analyzed for 36 toxins and metabolites.  This information is combined with LC/MS/MS feed testing to provide a true picture of bird exposure and risk. 

According to Cathy Bandyk, PhD, technical development manager at Innovad, the ability to analyze blood brings major advantages to poultry producers.  “Because mycotoxins do not develop uniformly throughout feedstuffs, it’s well recognized that collecting representative feed samples for testing can be unreliable.  MycoMarker removes that variability, and gives managers sound information to base decisions on.”

MycoMarker also offers the advantage of screening for several key “emerging” mycotoxins which standard feed testing packages may not include.  Reports provide basic interpretation of risk and suggested actions.

The test itself requires just single drops of blood per bird, using five birds per group.  The procedure has been scientifically validated and published, and is currently being used across the globe.
